Laurent C. Vonderweidt is licensed as an attorney both in France and in California.
While in France, Mr. Vonderweidt first worked for a law firm specialized in cases before the Court de Cassation, the equivalent of the US Supreme Court. He then went with the law firm of Salans, Hertzfeld & Heilbron, representing major international corporations. At the same time, he was an adjunct professor at the University of Paris-X teaching Banking Law and Contracts. After attending the University of San Diego, Mr. Vonderweidt worked for two major Los Angeles law firms before opening his own law firm in 1995.
Through the years, Mr. Vonderweidt has developed strong ties with the French community in Southern California. Mr. Vonderweidt has been invited to participate to various live shows on American television such as CNN, The Today Show and the NBC news hours as well on the Public National broadcasting radio at the News Hour with Jim Lehrer as well as on the French radio station Europe 1, where he gave several talks to business leaders regarding investing in the United States. Mr. Vonderweidt is also an arbitrator with The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and has presided over several arbitrations.
His law firm’s emphasis is on representing foreign corporations and individual, especially French corporations coming to the United States. Most of the firm’s clients are from Europe, but the firm also represents clients from Australia, Switzerland, Belgium, Iran, Algeria, Lebanon, Vietnam, Canada, Columbia and Senegal, to name a few. The firm assists foreign companies setting up subsidiaries in the United States as well as new business ventures. Our foreign clients are generally unfamiliar with the American legal system, as well as with the local business practices. Our firm works diligently to assist our clients through extensive negotiations with American partners regarding the purchase of businesses, the setting of joint ventures and the negotiations of contracts.
From our affiliated office in Paris, our firm primarily represents American clients with interests in France. These interests include contract negotiations, setting up French subsidiary offices, and French immigration matters. Fluent in French and using his French legal education and experience, Mr. Vonderweidt is able to guide clients, either French or American, through the arcane of the French legal system. Having worked in France and maintaining both professional and personal ties there, Mr. Vonderweidt has many resources available in both countries.
